Old School Runescape is Still the Greatest Game Ever Made (8-19-2026)

Old School Runescape, 2007scape, is still the greatest game ever made to this day. Nostalgia do be talking, but I have loved this game since Runescape Classic. This game was very likely my first ever legitimate addiction in my life. I would be FIENDING to go back to my grandma's house to use her computer to play the game when I was much younger. And when I couldn't play it because my family did not have a computer quite yet, I would be thinking about playing it and planning what to do to use my time wisely. And when my time on the computer was up, my brother would get on his account, and I'd just watch him play. However, my mom never bought us a membership, so we would just mess around f2p. In my current adult life, I have come and gone with Runescape accounts. But from August 2024 - October 2024, I finally set out with a mission to do what my childhood self always wanted: beat all the quests and get the quest cape. So in that time period, I played relentlessly to speedrun getting the quest cape. And by October 2024, I had it; it was all mine. I don't know your experience with the game, but you may think the quests are easy for such a simple game. Almost all of the quests are quite simple: click - kill boss. All I gotta say is get the quest cape yourself. The quest Desert Treasure 2 is surprisingly no joke - it took me like 4 days and hundreds of deaths to get through it. It is quite challenging if all you remember of the game is skilling, click-killing enemies, and fucking around the GE. After that quest, I eventually got into some bossing and got proficient at what I practiced, so I eventually got pretty "decent" at the game. I've not played in several months because I got really burnt out on Corrupted Gauntlet. Still haven't gotten the bowfa lmfao

The internet is no longer fun (8-18-2026)

When I use the internet in the modern era, I click the same 10 things on repeat like a Pavlovian dog. No thought, just click same thing, expect different result. In the early 2000s, when the internet was confined to a single unit in your parent's or grandparent's house, and you had to take turns on it with family, I remininesce on all of the times I had. It wasn't just YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Twitch, banking/corporate websites, and so on. It had so much personality, exploration, fun, and mystery for better or for worse. And there was such pleasure in the simplicity of it, nobody taking themselves too seriously. At one moment, I was like, 10 years old, and I was really interested in all of the flash games and animations, and I dabbled in Pivot animation and their forums and websites because my mom wouldn't buy me Flash multimedia software which was expensive to be fair. And I met hundreds of people from around the world and chatted with them all the time over animation. The modern internet has become too consolidated, corporate, and polished. There are still ways of achieving this nostalgic retrophilia of course, but they are often sparsely populated. However, neocities seems to be a spot with likeminded people with this philosophy, so that is what inspired me to make this. I don't take myself too seriously, enjoy the mystery and exploration of the internet, and hope I can connect with people who share this feeling. And, I have always loved coding along the HTML/CSS/Javascript structures.
